Joel Plaskett
10-May-2010 to 27-Jul-2010
Canada has produced some of the world’s most enduring songwriters and Joel Plaskett is being hailed as one of the best.
In the late spring last year Sir Paul McCartney asked Nova Scotian Joel Plaskett to open his show at Halifax Common. Joel had just released a new album to rave reviews and would soon have a mantelpiece full of Canadian music awards – ‘Best Adult Alternative’ at the Juno’s, ‘Best Solo Male’ at the Indie Awards, nominated for the Polaris Prize (for a second time) and a clutch of Canadian Folk Music awards.
The album that won him so many plaudits at home will have a special release for the UK and Europe in July. From the original triple-album, ‘Three’, Joel has personally selected thirteen tracks and the resulting collection will be released as ‘Three to One’.
Following a packed Borderline show and appearances at The Great Escape and Sound City, Joel returns to the UK in July for a residency Upstairs At The Garage and a tour of stately homes as Special Guest to Jools Holland.
Support from Will Kevans and Frank Hamilton on 12th July, Thomas J Speight and Russell Joslin on 19th July and Matthews and the Atlas on 27th July.
