HMV Picture House

Re-opened in September 2008 as a 1500 capacity Live music space when Travis played the newly refurbished venue. The hmv Picture House has a musical history stretching back three decades and is once again bringing the best international acts to the Scottish capital with acts as diverse as Franz Ferdinand to Amadou and Mariam having graced its stage. During the seventies and eighties it was known as The Caley Palais and hosted gigs by some of the biggest name artists of its generation including New Order, The Smiths, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Orange Juice, Queen and AC/DC. Extensive restoration has revealed some of the building’s wonderful original architectural features including an ornate Art Deco proscenium arch stage, stonework façade and a huge stained glass window featuring a magnificent lion rampant.

They re-create the sound, look, presence and feel of a real 1960's Doors concert perfectly and effortlessly, transporting the crowd back in time with such classic hits as 'Light My Fire', 'When The Music's Over, Riders On The Storm, The End and many more. The singer, Willie, captures the attitude, look and voice of the late, great Jim Morrison. And the other band members have honed the other Doors members playing styles note for note. To achieve that authentic Sixties sound, the band use the very same instruments that members of the Doors originally used.
